The Charity 4’s final was brought forward as the romantics at the Manor and Trent decided that they may not be able to field a side on valentine’s day …

This was played Tuesday night up at the Baize and was played in great sport, the match kicked off with a team game where Manor ran out winners, Si Shone quickly as ever pulled a frame back for the Trent the next 2 were shared teeing up an in form Stu Marsden for an 8 ball dish making the scores 3-2 Trent going into the doubles, from what I hear the Trent lads didn’t miss much and came through winning both the doubles frames and the match 5-2,

Congratulations on winning the Charity 4’s to Trents away team !

The final of the Les Taft Memorial Trophy will be held on 14th feb between Red Baize and Bucknall

Champions League Semi-Finals

Well that was a great evening of pool by all accounts, I’ll start with the matches played at the Plaza in the Champions Shield, our first semi final match featured Stoked and the Millrace, the game began how it ended with Stoked pulling off a couple of great finishes winning comfortably 10-4

Next we saw the tightest game of the night Green Baize vs Plaza, Plaza got off to a cracking start going in halfway against the division 1 champions winning 6-3, the baize then pulled their socks up and took four of the next five frames to level the score up at 7 each, Roger Taylor eventually winning the last frame for the Baize to force our seasons first 3 man shootout with the scores 9 a piece!

The playoff ended in dramatic fashion, with Ade Gomm potting out of a snooker only to find the pocket with the white against Daz Potts and Stef Johannson managing to snooker himself on his black leaving Daz and young prodigy Aaron Robinson to take out the frames winning the match for the Plaza 11-9,

Moving over the Baize for the main event the champions league and we’ll start with Bucknall club vs Madeley, from where I was standing it looked like it had all the makings of a classic semi final, Simon Rowley thrashing in an 8 ball clearance in frame 4 making it 2 each, the next 2 frames were shared again and then Bucknall got a nice straight line going winning the next 6 frames, Ralph Parsons of the Madeley dug a frame out to make it 9-4, County Captain Nick Wilshaw winning the next frame to guarantee a 10-4 win and a place in the final,

Last we head over to the other semi between Red Baize and Travs Rest, the match started with a bang as Daz Finikin of Red Baize pumped home an 8 ball in frame 1, from there we saw a couple of in offs at key moments from the Travs outfit along with an in off on a black and a black potted prematurely giving a slightly flattering scoreline… Red Baize capitalised on every mistake though, running out with a whitewash, 10-0 for Red Baize.

Well done to our finalists, I hope you all enjoyed the format, the final will take place on 7th Feb
