      The big four premier teams all progressed to the quarters but Bashers were made to sweat by Div 3 leaders Pool Dole and were pushed all the way for their 5-4 win, leaders Players despatched Locomotive 5-1,  Loyalists battererd Red Lion 5-1 and Grinders pasted Green Baize also 5-1, Plaza produced a stunning 5-0 whitewash over Abbey Legion, Crompos accounted for Longton WMC 5-1, Railway pipped Commercial 5-4 and Black Lion stunned Kings Arms with a fine 5-2 away sucess.

      The result of the night without doubt was Chaplins from the bottom division beating premier outfit Trent Tavern with a stunning 5-4 away win, other excellent performances for the lower division teams went to the Albert who  beat Tam o Shanter 5-4, Hollybush beating Travs Rest 5-4, Bennets beating Congress 5-1, whilst the other results in a night of cup action were as follows - Birches Head 4 Pockets 5, Longton Oak 4 Cheshire Cheese 5, Park Inn 5 Green Baize B 1, Ashwood 5 Wedgwood 2, Angel 2 Berryhill wmc 5, Back Pockets 5 Regent 4, Longton Lions 5 Joker 2, Barrel 4 Longton PC 5, Jubilee 2 Baize Windmill 5, Longton Snooker 5 Oak Tree 2, Finney 3 Oggys 5.
