How we started
|
The league was founded in 1983 by Tony latham. It all came about when Terry Charters from the Sea Lion - Stoke, challenged Tony's team The Talbot to a money match.
This gave Tony the idea to form a league to see who was the best team in Stoke. The league was formed with just six teams: Talbot, Sea Lion, Victoria, White Lion, Pheonix and The Star.
The league was called the 'Stoke Inter Pool League'. The first presentation was held in the upstairs of the Talbot, with tickets priced @ 50p.
The Sea Lion won the league by one point from the Victoria and the Talbot.
The league then changed its name with a massive sponsorship deal of £1000 in 1989 from 'Trent Trophies', the league then became known as the 'Trent Trophies Pool League'.
The league has then since become the largest in Staffordshire, with at least 35 teams every year participating. |
